In the study Metamatter the authors delve into the philosophy and history of waste as matter out of place in the metabolism of the city of Tallinn.

Gypsum boards from construction, ash from waste incineration plant and sludge from water treatment plant are underused, but potentially useful starting materials in the face of future material scarcity.

“We study the past and speculate with material perspectives of household waste, the cultural layer of urban space, looking closer into combining discarded substances for shaping experimental forms reminiscent of medieval potteries”.
